Yes, the Americanization of Canada is still occurring today. I feel that it matters to Canada. Canada is an independent country. Thus, She should have her own identity. She is a sovereign country. Canada is following the United States in many ways. Like, music is very much affected. Canada has her own music and She has produced some of the finest singers like Celine Dion, Lou Bega and others. But much of these singers go to the States in order to earn more money. Canada has a different fashion but a lot of Canadians follow the States people as their fashion impresses them. Canada has some Canadian channels on television. But majority of the channels are coming from the States. I think it is good for Canada to imitate the good things from the States but at the same time She should have something Candian touch in the fashion, tv channels, music and other such fields.
Every country has its own identity. The reason why a lot of foreigners like India is the at every 100 kms in India, the type of people , their dressing sense, their food habbits, their vernacular architecture everything changes. Well Canada must have something unique, which gives the country the very name Canada. Canada imitates a lot of things from States like the society, the business which is in the benefit of the country. Canada and States are on the same verge of development but over all a French, Portugese, a Japenese and a Mogolian have heard the name of States more than Canada.
Being an East Indian, I have heard of United States of America more than Canada. That’s the main reason why I wanted to become an exchange student in Canada and not US. I think that it is good as long as She is well aware of what makes her Canada and Canadians also learn the art of preserving Canadianization in front of the Americanization. But at the same time, She should take her own decisions no matter what the States say. United States of America might advice her in many ways but it is ih Her hads to take the right decision for Her Own people who make Canada a much different place than United States of America to live in.
